Day 1 - Arrival in the Faroe Islands. In Vágar you can visit Kálvalíð where Barbara, in the Novel of Jørgen Franz Jacobsen, lived. Check-in at the Airport Hotel.

Day 2 & 3 - With boat to the westernmost island, Mykines. The boat departs twice daily from Sørvágur. Check-in at Kristianshús. While in Mykines, do not miss the spectacular hike to Mykineshólmur - crossing what is said to be one of two bridges over the Atlantic Ocean. You will pass by one of the richest puffin areas in the country on your way to Mykineshólmur. The northern slope of the islet and the free-standing stacks: "Flatidrangur" and "Píkarsdrangur", are the only places in the Faroe Islands where gannets breed. The lighthouse was built in 1909 and is the westernmost point in the Faroe Islands.

Day 4, 5 & 6 - Pick up your rental car at the airport when you arrive back in Sørvágur after your visit in Mykines. You do not have to travel all the way to Greenland to try out igloos. Just outside Kvívík, you will enjoy the next days of your holiday. From here there is a beautiful view and lovely surroundings. Worth visiting during your stay are the Vestmanna Bird Cliffs, a fishing trip or some hiking in the area.

Day 7 & 8 - Klaksvík is the second largest city in the Faroe Islands. Be sure to visit Kunoy with the astonishing mountain rising behind it. Definitely one of the most picturesque villages in the Faroe Islands. Back in Klaksvík, recharge your batteries with a 3 hour hike up the mountain Klakkur, from which Klaksvík gets its name. As you reach the pass Hálsur, the area is quite level, and the Sagas say, that people looked for pirates in a place called Á Vaktini. Loosely translated as the Look-out. Before you leave Klaksvík, visit the church Christianskirkjan, which was the first to be built in traditional Nordic fashion. The roof is constructed in the same manner as old viking halls. The Altar piece is a fresco by Joakim Skovgaard form 1901 and originally painted on the wall of Viborg Cathedral (Denmark).

Day 9 - Tórshavn offers history, culture, nature and nightlife. The capital blends the historical and picturesque with all the features of a modern city. Take a stroll down the city centre and you end up in the old part of town "Á Reyni" - turf roofed houses many of them 150-300 years old.

Day 10 - Drop off your rental car at the aiport and check-in for your flight back.
