Day 1 - Departure from Esbjerg/Hanstholm, Denmark. Enjoy the amazing sights as you sail towards the Faroe Islands. Day 2 - After relaxing at sea the whole day, you reach the Faroe Islands late in the evening, drive to Klaksvík for check-in at the hotel. Day 3 - Klaksvík is the second largest city in the Faroe Islands. Be sure to visit Kunoy with the astonishing mountain rising behind it. Definitely one of the most picturesque villages in the Faroe Islands. Back in Klaksvík, recharge your batteries with a 3 hour hike up the mountain Klakkur, from which Klaksvík gets its name. As you reach the pass Hálsur, the area is quite level, and the Sagas say that people looked for pirates in a place called Á Vaktini. Translated as the Look-out. Day 4 - Check-out from Hotel Klaksvík after breakfast. Before you leave, we recommend visiting the church Christianskirkjan. Christianskirkjan was the first to be built in traditional Nordic fashion. The roof is constructed in the same manner as old viking halls. The Altar piece is a fresco by Joakim Skovgaard from 1901 and originally painted on the wall of Viborg Cathedral (Denmark). Drive to Gjógv to take part in a hike to Ambadalur. Maps with the route can be purchased at Debesar Handil*. Rest of the day is for your own adventures. Check-in at Hotel Føroyar in Tórshavn. Day 5 - Travel with the ferry Smyril to Suðuroy in the morning. Apart from the marvelling view of Sandur, Skúvoy and Dímun, you can also check out the art-collection on board the ferry. The ferry has a cafeteria, and a restaurant. The crossing is about 2 hours and you arrive at Krambatangi somewhat in the middle of Suðuroy. Suðuroy is an island with a lot to offer. The nature there is breathtaking - we reccommend a drive on high mountain roads to Akraberg to see the southernmost point of the Faroe Islands, which is also possible to see from the light house there. Visit the church in Fámjin in which the original of the Faroese flag - Merkið, is preserved, and Beinisvørð, the second highest bird cliffs in the Faroe Islands. If Faroese art is of interest to you, visit the Ruth Smith Gallery or Gallery Oyggin. Return to Tórshavn at 1830 hours and enjoy a meal on board the ferry on your way. Day 6 - This day is free to your own adventures. Adventure Travel is happy to assist you if you need ideas or inspiration. Day 7 - Check-in at the Eastern Harbour 1½ hours prior to departure.
